Cucina Casalinga

We always joke the Marco is an eating genius. He loves to eat most things, love to taste ingredients in their raw form, picks herbs from the yard and loves to cook with us.

But this honestly blew my mind. Jeff made the pasta sheets... and Marco did the rest.

Running Buddy

I took Marco running around Lake Merritt recently. He ate a sandwich and watched a show on my phone. Afterwards, he poured into the house and screamed, "Dad! We went running with Katie and I beat Mama!"

(No mention of me PUSHING him!)

Ahhhh.

Sun, smiles, family and friends... Chocolate soft serve ice cream dripping down your belly... Isn't vacation delicious?

Hey Jealousy

Jeff was lonely... so, he got his own iPhone.

Yes sir!

We visited the USS Hornet in Alameda because Jeff fancies himself a history buff (not because of his Marco's new haircut). Marco's favorite part was the flight simulator were he screamed, "OH MY!! WE'RE FLYING!"

And the livin' is easy.

The weather isn't completely cooperating with our summertime plans, but we refuse to play along. Our outdoor kitchen is complete and we couldn't wait another minute to drink ice cold beers from the outdoor fridge, wash freshly picked artichokes in our new outdoor sink and soak in the sun (the only thing missing).

So, we did it. All of it. We spent a not too summery weekend on the deck, watching the Giants game and cooking in the pizza oven.

Weather is not the boss of me.

Here are some adorable pics to prove it:

Sleep for the weary.

Yes, Marco still naps. It's been harder and harder to get him to go down at home, but he always, always sleeps in the car. He even tells us that he'll "just close his eyes a little bit until we get there." In fact, we've developed a reputation for showing up to parties with a partygoer who naps an hour (or more) into the celebration.

He wakes early and he fights us a little going down, but we're just not quite ready to give up the nap.

So, I made him a deal. If he could lay down on the couch for ten minutes without sleeping, he didn't have to take a nap.

Shh.

Pasta days.

Marco's culinary prowess continued this weekend with Grandma's freshly made pasta.

Goooooal!!

Marco started soccer today!

I didn't go because I'm still shell shocked from circus class, so Boat Papa and Jeff took him.

It was a huge success, filled with running, kicking and craziness - much more his speed.

After the "Lil' Kickers," in traditional soccer style, we took him to pizza - Cecchin style. Wood-fired pizza, of course.

Marco and Jeff really hit it off with the pizzaiolo Caesar. He let Marco make his own pizza which he WRECKED.

He chased his pizza with a two-hour nap. Soccer = appetite and nap. I like.

Here's the proof:
