Sausage Fest

The secret ingredient in Jeff's latest batch of sausage is tears of joy.

Marco really helped make sausage with him, taking over my job as the plunger. Jeff was insanely proud. My little chefs...

Rorry Raggy.

We've got some work to do now. Marco refuses Super Why, The Cat in the Hat and yes, even Dora. We've been in denial for some months, but it's true. Marco may have a mystery obsession. He's in serious love with Scooby Doo.

Mystery Inc is slightly altered from when I was a fan. Marco's favorites, Scooby and Shaggy, still eat everything in sight, the whole crew still dresses like it's the 70s - including bell bottoms and micro minis - and they still spew questionnable vernacular like "Jenkies!" and "Zoiks!" but they've adopted modern technologies like GPS, cell phones and the Internet.

My adventurous son always wants to know, "Is this a scary one Mama?" "Yes, baby." "Very scary, right?" "Yes." "Oh good, I love scary."

He told me to play monster with a blanket on my head, tore it off and exclaimed, "It's not a monster, it's only Mr. Potato Head!" I choose to believe this was the work of Scooby and not my giant potato-shaped head.

Marco bumped into me this morning and said, "Rorry Raggy." He paused with a serious face and then cracked up. I could not have been more proud of his comedic timing. Next up, getting him to listen to me in exchange for a Scooby snack.

Like father, like...?

Jeff: "I think our kid is cute and all, but I'd sure rather he be wearing a Giants hat and carrying a bat."

Party Animal

We're so fortunate to have great friends with kids Marco's age and the good sense to stay too late at a party...traits we love, and resemble.

We travel with pajamas in case Marco need to get comfy before we hit the road.

But, we hit a new partying standard when Marco fell asleep on the floor at his own party after raging all evening. I'm thinking it won't be a first...

I heaved his heaviness upstairs to bed.

The morning after. Electrolytes required.
