Coming of Age

Marco talks pretty regularly about his "girlfriends."  Generally speaking, it's either one of the two girls that live next door (7 and 10) or the daughter of his teacher (15). 

But lately, he's been veeeery interested in the illustrated variety, namely She-Hulk, Wonder Woman and the Hex Girls.  Since these lovely ladies aren't regulars, he makes sure you know which episode or book he wants, "the one with the two girls." 

Can you blame him?

He even runs around the house singing the Hex Girls song, "We're the Hex Girls!  And we're gonna put a spell on you.... we're gonna put a spell on you."  If I try to sing along, he says, "No Mama, you're not one of the Hex Girls, only Dada and I are the Hex Girls." 

Just what are they doing when I'm not home?

Coach's Pet

Marco wrapped up his soccer season recently. He'll miss his coach Layla most of all.

Teaching Moment.

American Red Cross called last week and I answered on speaker phone.  After I hung up, Marco asked me why they wanted my blood. 

I explained that Mama and Marco are strong because we have healthy blood and big muscles.  But not everyone is strong, so sometimes we have to help others.  They were calling to ask me to give my blood to people who aren't strong so that they can have healthy blood and big muscles too! 

(I must say, I was pretty pleased with that response.)

Marco: "Ooh... want to see me fight a monster?"

Perhaps I overthought it a little.
