Teeth Fairy

The tooth fairy has been working over time in our neighborhood. Marco lost his second tooth and Nolan, his first.

Marco begged Jeff to pull out this tooth after days of wiggling. Jeff finally obliged... at a neighborhood happy hour amidst hoots and cheers from adults and kids alike.

The bounty? Three dollars promptly stuffed into his pocket to spend at Shane's Chuck E Cheese E Cheese birthday party. :)

Flattery

Marco asked Jeff if he was faster than me.

"I think I'm faster than Mama if it's a really short race.  But Mama can run a lot longer than me."

I was so flattered!

"That's because she's not a little bit chubby like you, right Dad?"

Jeff: "I'm so flattered he only said a 'little bit'!"

Hey Lolly

Is there anything more fantastic than sharing your Easter lollipop bouquet from your Grammy with your neighborhood besties?
Yes.  Getting the Easter lollipop bouquet out of your house.  Bye kids!  Thanks for stopping by!

(The neighborhood parents didn't completely agree.)

On Cooking

We cook.  Often.  And a lot.

It's crossed my mind that we could be burning Marco out on the whole experience.  He can't believe his good fortune when he gets to have dino nuggets or a corn dog, instead of veal involtini or homemade sausage.

Last night he asked why we like cooking so much.  We explained that it's fun time to share together and you get to make the food exactly how you want it.

"If I cooked this dinner, I could've done what I wanted?"
"Yes, do you have any ideas how you'd change it to make it better?"
"Sure!  I guess instead of the mushrooms, I would've put chicken in it.  And instead of the spinach, I'd like green beans!  But I like the orechiette ear pasta, so I'd keep that... maybe more pasta cheese...  I can't wait to be old enough to cook!"

I guess I'll spend my time worrying about something else.

Aunt Sweetheart

This year, Mike proposed to Mariesa.  Jeff and I are stoked.  And I think I can speak for most of the Cecchins when I say how excited we are to welcome Aunt Mariesa into the family.

But there just may be one little broken heart in our midst, a young boy who once suggested on a hike, "Everyone choose a partner!  I'll take Mariesa.  Uncle Mike, you can have the dog."

On the same trip, the little lovelorn clepto stole a drawer pull from her family's home.  He called it a treasure, but I think it was a little keepsake.

So, when I told Marco that Uncle Mike had proposed to Aunt Mariesa and now she was going to be his real aunt, my loquacious son was quiet.  "Well, what do you think about that?"

"I just don't know what to think, Mom."
