Time flies.
We've been at Lakeshore Children's for almost two years now. Marco's stay there culminated last week with a sweet pre-school graduation. Leading up to the graduation, Marco was very excited to sing the coconut song and very hesitant about wearing an outfit that "makes [him] look like a girl."
The big finish was each child standing up to say what they wanted to be when they grow up.
Marco: "When I grow up, I want to be a police man because I like helping people."
There were about four boys with that one, so I'm not calling the Academy yet. My personal favorite was Marco's friend who said he wanted to be a Dad and a pizza maker, pretty much legitimizing Jeff's life path.
And here are a few gems courtesy of Grandma Cecchin:

Speedy
My running partner and I are so fast, I'm surprise Jeff was able to snap this pic!
Marco and I took our matching shades and shoes out for a run. We even listened to our own music. Not a bad little Mother's Day...

Centerfield
Marco has really been enjoying Tee Ball. He begs to play catch daily - even at 6 a.m. - and is showing major improvement. But his affinity for being an "Arkansas Natural" isn't quite as great as his love for his cousins. He loves playing on Clara's team, and pretty much thinks Joey walks on water. Getting pumped up for his game only requires listening to "Joey's song," (aka, Put Me in Coach) as many times as we'll oblige.
After a tee ball game and sleepover with his cousins he said to me, "When am I going to get to stay at my real home again? You know, with Joey."
Here are some pics from his season:

Let Them Eat Cake
I wish I could bottle every conversation with 5-year old Marco. Each is filled with innocence and discovery and fun.
Here's my best effort to recount our latest.
"Mom, that guy is scary and I see him all the time."
"Yes, he does seem scary, but he's just a man who doesn't have a home, so he doesn't have a place to sleep or shower or wash his clothes, like you do."
"Well, that's not fair. I guess there's really no place for him in the world - that's why he's so dirty. And also I guess he can't have any 'stuff' either. It's really sad Mom. I wish he could have a home. But... I guess he'll just have to live in a hotel or something."
Such a serious conversation considering he looked like this...
