Christmas flew by, Easter break was a blur, Spring program was sung and we suddenly realized that Marco will finish kindergarten soon.
Waking up this morning...
Him: "Does first grade start today?"
Me: "You need to behave in class or maybe they won't let you in the first grade."
Him: "Why? I can already read!"
Sigh.
Marco continues to be praised for his academics, however, his attention to detail is slightly lacking. His kinder blues' pain points seem to be centered around making the other boys laugh, not listening and back talk.
Our most challenging note home was that Marco got his card flipped for saying that "the book from story time was stupid and I wish I'd given up school for Lent."
Challenge: Do not laugh.

The Score
The Warriors were tragically ejected from basketball playoffs, but Marco, Nolan and Malcolm are just starting their season, downtown at the Y.
The program is amazing. Basketball is Marco's "first favorite sport," so he was bursting with excitement to try out his favorite game. He respected the coaches (who aren't a friend's parent,) drank in the dribbling drills, and tackled the game with gusto scoring the points -- all two of them.
Slam dunk on a great local find. And here's the proof:

Cinco De Mayo
I literally peeled up, parked in church parking and made it JUST in time to see possibly the cutest kindergarten presentation so far.
They sang two songs in Spanish, recited a poem including Marco's now infamous line "Low rider car shows are also a favorite," and performed a Mexican hat dance. But not just any dance, a girl/boy dance! I nearly cried.
His partner is here on his left, but he really has his eye on the girl on his right. Shhh.

Mistress Murphy's Chowder
We received an endless stream of emails, texts and stories from other kinder parents commending Marco's stellar performance in the retirement home St. Patrick's Day sing-a-long. Subject lines and texts commented, "Marco singing loudest... belting it out... he knows every word... he is awesome... he is rockin it... singing louder than everyone else... showing so much passion!"
Needless to say, we were petrified.
So, here's our little leprechaun who loves, loves, loves to sing. And when the monthly retirement home gigs and choir dry up, we know he'll have a bright and useful future in Irish pub songs and rugby.

Marco Crisp
In an Oakland resident stroke of luck, Marco's team got the A's! Not the most thrilling turn of events for Giants fans, but certainly not the worst either. Better yet, he's wearing lucky number 4. Not only is his class number four, but it's also the number of Joey's favorite player, A's center fielder, Coco Crisp.
"Dad, I actually really like the A's because I was born in Oakland. You like the Giants because you were born in San Francisco."
