Sea Change

There are so many changes going on in Marco’s life right now, I almost can’t keep up. We’re trying to be patient with his phases and trying to stay sane.

First, his boy boy bed. He loves the thing. He talks about it all the time. And to show the love, he has to get up at least once a night, come into our room, ask if he can come in Mama’s bed or if it's time to get up, then skip back to bed when we assure him that it's still dark and still night night time.

Boy boy bed by the numbers:

3 weeks in the boy boy bed
2 nights being escorted back to the boy boy bed as many as 28 times
1 night mysteriously awakening with him in our bed
1 night in the boy boy bed all night

In other transitional news, the potty is very popular right now. He uses it at home and at daycare inconsistently. Less attractive side effects of the potty are:

He takes off his diaper where he is and THEN heads to the potty with no pants.

He takes off his diaper before, after or during potty action. Warning:
This can get messy.

My knees may not recover from the amount of long-term squatting I’m doing. “Pee pee’s coming! No, poo poo’s coming! No, it not coming. No, I just toot.” In the absence of potty pics (you're welcome) here is one from a recent trip to see Granny and her turtles.

Are we going to have the Cecchin Trio potty-trained all at the same time?? Marco will the superstar if he trains at the same time as his older cousins!

Uh, no. Marco's is more of a hobby, not a lifestyle.

There is a night light that is blue for the moon at night time and turns yellow for the sun when it is time to get up. I saw it on the today show I think, and a mom said it was a life saver. Her kid knew not to get up until it turned yellow. Might be worth a try.
