Fake Easter... Hoppity Hop.

Saturday, we headed down to Pacifica to celebrate Easter with the Cecchins. I know, I know. It's not really Easter, but Mike was in town and Tim and Sara are out of town over the holiday, so it's a perfect fit. The Easter Bunny even came. I know, I know. It was just me in felt ears, but regardless, we felt the magic of the season.

The whole family was there including Nonna Eda. Not only did Barbara and Art host (no easy feat for 14) but they spent a good part of the evening crawling around on the floor with the kids. They are VERY good sports to say the least! Seeing the cousins together was really fun (Joey, Tommy, Clara and Marco). Joey was such a sweetheart to his cousin Marco, who he pronounces Mah-coo. It's to die for, really.

Here are some pics...

Babes on the Peninsula

Thursday, we delivered chicken cacciatore and risotto to the Baruliches. We got to meet the new baby girl, Riley, and spend time with their genius son, Luke.

Here's how my conversation went with the very handsome and loquacious Luke (not pictured here, darn):

Me (to Christine): I think we're going to see Brendan and Christina this weekend.
Luke: Excuse me, Miss Sarah, did you say 'Brendan'?
Me: Yes, I did Luke.
Luke: Oh. He's my friend!

Later...
Jeff (to Nate): Yeah, Pig stopped by.
Luke: Excuse me, Jeff, did you say 'Pig'?"
Jeff: Yes, I did Luke.
Luke: Oh. He's Bella's Daddy.

Here's some shots of the babies... Rumor has it that Willa Braden and Riley Barulich look enough alike that Luke asked, "Which one's my sister?" Marco doesn't look too excited, but I figure it's because he just thought this was Willa again.

I'm a big kid now.

While I had my doctor's appointment, Jeff snuck Marco next door to pediatrics for a weigh in. Great news! I'm not a milk dud, Marco tipped the scales at 9 pounds, 11.6 ounces. We're glad that he's growing at a perfect ounce-a-day pace, even though we partly want him to stay tiny forever.

He also outgrew an outfit this week. And guess which part didn't fit? (No comments from the peanut gallery.) His forearms. HIS FOREARMS. Definitely a Cecchin. I don't know how we couldv'e doubted his hugeness. Every time I look at him, I can't believe how huge he's gotten. Check out this fat pic. While Niko slept, Marco played with his monkey. Shhh....

A few of my favorite things.

Gloworm is out. Rain forest is in. Sorry Claire, Dina's hand-me-downs are the toys of the moment lately. Marco is really diggin on the Rain Forest mobile and the Rain Forest activity mat which earns 15-20 minutes of his attention (even from crying!) Although he still hates the swing, somehow the crying he exhibited today in it was mild. His heart just wasn't in it. Maybe he's residing himself to my torture.

The changing table is still the toy of favor, but he also likes a teething moose. Maybe because it talks and tells him all the things that "M" stands for.... Marco... Momma... Music Box... Mista... Moose... you get it. If you don't get it, I'll get you a Moose.

Yesterday, I tried Marco in the Bumbo for the first time. Now I know it says three months but it also says once he can hold up his head, so the message is muddled. And how can you argue with how damn cute he looks sitting in it? I mean, I know I can't.

On another note, a couple of posts ago, my great Aunt Jean made a comment. She's 85. You go Aunt Jean!

Picture-Pub-Picky-Eater

Monday night we went to the Parkway Theatre, aka "Picture Pub Pizza." On Monday nights, you can enjoy their food, drink and couches WITH BABIES! It was such a surreal scene, babies everywhere. Once, Jeff walked Marco to the back and I looked back there to see FIVE fathers bouncing babies, two of them holding binkies in their mouths. ha! Love it. Everyone with a baby under age one should totally check it out.

Playing along with the movie theme, Marco exposed himself as QUITE the diva. Usually I feed him while he lays on a pillow like the Queen of Sheba. At the movies, he refused to be balanced on my knee. Usually we reserve that for daytime and I think by the evening, he'd really just needed to be relaxed... and maybe fed grapes and fanned. So, about halfway through "Atonement" we had to excuse ourselves to settle down and get the pillow out of the trunk of my car (gracefully left over from pre-natal yoga class).

I should preface by saying that on the way in, we saw a couple coming in with a Boppy. I guffawed since my baby is an angel! I wasn't laughing by the end! Next trip, we're rolling with the Boppy, or at least a pillow...

Movie Review: I was surprised to hear Heather crying at the end of this horrible movie. Apparently the folks who voted it Best Picture didn't miss the 20 minutes in the middle that I did. Oops!

I didn't take any pics, so check out Heather's blog for a cute one of our adorable family (if I do say so).
